About Sides Pea Farm
Since 1957 • Canton, TX

Rooted in East Texas
Sides Pea Farm began in 1957 when Winford and Virginia Sides purchased 70 acres just south of Canton and began farming. While they grew a variety of crops in the early years, Winford soon discovered a talent for raising peas and beans and dedicated the farm to becoming one of the largest fresh market pea operations in Texas.

What started as a small family farm grew into a trusted name known for quality, hard work, and fresh produce throughout East Texas and beyond.
A Family Legacy
For more than 35 years, Virginia Sides sold peas and produce at the Dallas Farmers Market, where she became a familiar face to generations of customers. Known for her warm smile, storytelling, and dedication to quality, she built lasting relationships with families who returned year after year for fresh peas and beans.

Later, Virginia returned to Canton and welcomed customers directly to the farm store, continuing the personal service and community connection that became a hallmark of Sides Pea Farm.

Together, Winford and Virginia built more than a successful farm—they created a legacy of hard work, hospitality, and trust that continues to define Sides Pea Farm today.

Carrying on the Tradition
For nearly 70 years, Sides Pea Farm has remained rooted in family, hard work, and a commitment to serving others.

Today, Brandon Sides proudly carries forward the legacy established by his grandparents, Winford and Virginia Sides. Growing up around the farm, he learned firsthand the values that built the business—from providing quality products to treating every customer like family.

While much has changed over the years, the mission remains the same: to provide fresh, high-quality peas, beans, and produce while preserving the traditions that have made Sides Pea Farm a beloved East Texas destination for generations.

As new families discover the farm and longtime customers return each season, the legacy of Winford and Virginia continues to live on through every bag of peas, every conversation, and every customer served.
